In Mumbai, there are good amount of single storey slum houses. These houses are very compact and closely packed with small window and asbestos cement sheet on roof. Temperature, illuminance level, and Air Changes per Hour (ACH) are way below comparison to required value as per National Building Code of India (NBC). A small intervention like chimney installation on roof can reduce the temperature by 3 to 4 degC. Whereas Illuminance level can go upto 300 lux and ACH level upto 41.
This study is performed using IES-VE & Design Builder simulation software.
